Friday May 10 at 7:00 p.m. we invite you to the inauguration of this photo exhibition by Xavier Erruz (visit his web) named Iceland on Black.
Improvised look at the Icelandic landscape. Images taken in different stays, a basic tour around the island and several walks to delve into the landscape. Latitude and unknown territory. Iceland is “the West” uninhabited. A small continent where nature eclipses human presence.
Iceland is a “big” island, located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It has about 300,000 inhabitants a half of them live in its capital, Reykjavik, and a quarter of the population in the second city, Akureyri, in the north of the country. The rest of Icelanders are divided into farms, small villages or small family nuclei throughout the island’s geography, being the minimum population density. This human trail is visible in the form of wood and veneer and extends along the island in small prefabricated buildings that are part of the landscape, a landscape that seems conceived for survival.
The exhibition Iceland on Black is divided into two distinct parts: Landscapes and Backstages. It aims to seduce, enhance the dream that evokes nature, force us to complete with our imagination scenes, sometimes infinite, immense landscapes. This small collection of photographs essentially collects images where black is the basis on which the infinite shades of the island rest, blue, white, green and ocher … all combined on the dark layer of lava. Frames often closed, in different proportions, sometimes isolating the detail, remaining amplitude to highlight textures and sensations
Iceland on Black are not only photographs of a trip. They are images of what this beautiful, capricious and dynamic island made me see …
